Lawful Use Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

RedKit Labs sells hardware and software used to test the security of networks, wireless systems, access control and electronics. These are the same tools security teams, researchers and educators use every day. They can also cause harm if they are used against systems without permission. This policy explains what we expect from everyone who buys from us.

Use our products only with permission

You may use products bought from RedKit Labs only:

  • on systems, networks, devices, cards and locks that you own, or
  • on systems you have written permission to test from the owner, within the scope of that permission, or
  • for research, teaching and learning in a controlled environment, such as your own lab.

Accessing, intercepting, disrupting or copying data from a system without the owner’s permission is a crime in most countries. So is cloning access cards or keys you are not authorised to copy, and opening locks you do not own or have permission to open.

Radio transmissions

Some products can transmit radio signals, including software defined radios, Sub-GHz tools, WiFi and Bluetooth devices, and RFID readers. Radio spectrum is regulated. In most countries you need a licence to transmit on many frequencies, and jamming or interfering with any radio service is illegal. Receiving and analysing signals is legal in more places than transmitting, but not everywhere. Check the rules of your national regulator, for example the FCC in the United States or your national authority in Europe, before you transmit.

You are responsible for following the law

Laws on owning, importing and using security testing tools differ between countries, and sometimes between states or regions. By ordering, you confirm that you are allowed to buy, import and use the products in the country where they will be delivered and used. You are responsible for any import permits, licences or registrations your country requires.

When we may refuse or cancel an order

We may refuse or cancel an order, and refund any payment, if we have reason to believe that:

  • the products will be used without permission or to commit a crime,
  • the order breaks export or sanctions rules (see our export and import compliance page), or
  • the buyer has given false information about who they are or where the order is going.

We may ask for more information before shipping an order, for example the name of the organisation buying a restricted product. See restricted products.

Reporting misuse

If you believe a product sold by RedKit Labs is being misused, email support@redkitlabs.com. We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
