Descripción
The O.MG Malicious Cable Detector by Hak5 is designed for authorised security assessments, hardware triage and security education. It analyses the behaviour of a connected USB cable and uses LED activity to indicate signs that the cable is attempting to communicate with or influence a host. It can also block USB data lines, allowing charging while reducing the risk associated with untrusted charging connections.
Key features
- Detects known malicious USB cable behaviour through side-channel power analysis.
- Samples cable activity at up to 200,000 measurements per second.
- LED activity provides a visual indication during cable testing.
- Functions as a USB data blocker for charging-only use.
- Suitable for authorised red-team assessments, cable triage and security training.
- Behaviour can be extended using the six-pin ISP header and Arduino IDE.
- Provides a serial breakout for additional output information.
